Living & Thriving
What Is Student Life Like?
Planning to study in Australia from Nepal? Experience the reality of international student life—from affordable suburban accommodation and shared living to modern university campuses, diverse communities, part-time work opportunities, and a rewarding study abroad experience.
Accommodation Options & Leases
Choose from PBSA like Scape or UniLodge (AUD $320–$500/week), university halls, or shared rentals (AUD $180–$300/week). Rental leases generally require a security bond lodged with the relevant state authority.
Public Transit Networks
Australia offers reliable public transport across major cities, with systems like Sydney’s Opal, Melbourne’s myki, and Brisbane’s Translink. International students can also access discounted travel options in several states, while Melbourne’s CBD offers a convenient Free Tram Zone.
Food & Everyday Budgeting
Australia makes everyday living easy, with weekly groceries typically costing around AUD $80–$130. Students can shop at major supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles, while cities such as Sydney and Melbourne offer plenty of South Asian and Nepali stores for familiar foods, spices, and ingredients.
Healthcare (OSHC) & Student Safety
Australia supports international students with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), access to campus health services, and dedicated student support. With well-established emergency services, campus security, and 24/7 assistance at many universities, students can feel confident and supported throughout their studies.
